SCULPTURE EXHIBITION

8. June 2000

The artists Jiři Bezlaj, David Kozina, and Igor Bravničar belong to three different generations.

The sculptor Jiři Bezlaj, who has held numerous exhibitions in Slovenia and abroad, has been part of the Slovenian art scene for more than twenty-five years now. The display area and Igor Bravničar’s paintings inspired Bezlaj to create a set of sculptures in cooperation with the artist David Kozina, which merged into a well-thought-out whole. The material that the artists created new shapes from was refined by dripstones and marble from Lesno Brdo for several millennia. Under the sensual blows and melody of a chisel, these were transformed into images of petrified eroticism, purity, and sublime energy. Here these sculptures have their own place and are the most expressive because it seems as though a painting has dissolved and turned to stone without interfering with the essence of the equally powerful glowing energy.
